adiZero Crazylight

When it comes to the culture that surrounds teenage consumers, it is a fluid one full of trends that come and go quickly. The footwear creation process for basketball is not one that lends itself to chasing trends with brand new concepts. Eighteen months from brief to shelf is an eternity in the teenage world. Rather than rely on trend forecasting, we looked to the foundation of Adi Dassler's vision for the brand, which was to do everything possible to make the athlete better.

On May 23rd, 2011, the adiZero Crazylight debuted at the NBA Playoffs, worn by adidas top players including that season's MVP, Derrick Rose. At 9.8 ounces and over 15% lighter than the next lightweight competitor, adidas changed the game with lightweight footwear. Five years later, the crazylight franchise continues to be the pinnacle innovation franchise for the category.
